2024 Meeting – Visit Florida

Visit Florida!

Know that old proverb about all work and no play?
Well, it’s true. Once you’ve registered for the 2024 SAR Annual Meeting – #SAR2024, you’ll want to start making plans to explore the many must-see sights in vibrant and historic Hollywood, Florida.
Insta-credibity
Hollywood, Florida will have your social media followers smashing the like button. For colorful murals visit the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project, or the Hollywood Artspark at Young Circle. The straight-out-of-a-postcard white sand, crystal-clear water, and chickee huts of Hallandale Beach are true Florida backdrops, while the breathtaking views from the historic Hillsboro Lighthouse must be seen. Delight your followers with a journey through a tunnel leading to the beach at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, or capture photos of colorful butterflies in Secret Woods Nature Center. Scenic Las Olas Boulevard is sure to yield amazing photos and its Riverwalk Park is the perfect spot for tropical selfies. And if you return home without a photo of the Thrive Sculpture were you even in Florida?
A Shopping Mecca
If you’re feeling a splurge coming on, you’re in luck! For luxury shopping, head to Fort Lauderdale Galleria for world-class retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton, and Dillard’s, or indulge in myriad trendy shops, boutiques, galleries, and dining options in Downtown Hollywood or the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk. And don’t forget to pick up a Florida trinket or two for the peeps back home at Hollywood Paradise!
Libations Galore
Hollywood’s hop culture is thriving. If a busy day of learning and mingling has you craving a “Brew Hefner,” head to Hollywood Brewing Company, or Orchestrated Minds Brewing where the nano brewery program is tweaked according to the season, or be boggled by more than 60 craft beers, live music, and outdoor seating at LauderAle Brewery & Taproom. A plethora of mimosa options, frozen drinks, and beers on tap await your arrival at Happytizer Bar, while hand-crafted organic cocktails abound at Liquid Remedy Bar. The hottest Tiki tickets in town are Caribbean Resort Tiki Bar, or the hip Some Place Else Tiki Bar for tropical specialties. Grape enthusiasts should visit micro-winery English-Brown Winery for high quality handcrafted wine by the glass or bottle. If coffee is your fuel of choice, Kay Rico Coffee specializes in coffee “cocktails” crafted by master baristas, or head to Cali Coffee for a Salty Blondie or Snickerdoodle. Gourmet juice blends and shakes to support wellness are specialties of Immunity Juice Bar, and super health mix-ups with an assortment of tasty acai bowls can be found at Froots.
Foodie Central
If you’re craving red meat you don’t need to travel far! Diplomat Prime in our host hotel serves prime beef and fresh catches in an intimate setting, or savor perfectly cooked fillets and lobster tail at Tropical Acres Steakhouse (order the key lime pie!), or head to Sardelli’s Italian Steakhouse for mouthwatering steaks, butternut ravioli, or short rib served in a pork belly tomato sauce. For fresh seafood delicacies, Billy’s Stone Crab is one of the very best options, or GG’s Waterfront, where locally sourced seafood, lobster, and stone crabs are served alongside amazing views. If sushi is how you roll (har har) check out Sushi Song Hollywood for exotic South Florida flavors, or Ceviche DOZO for fresh, authentic Japanese dishes. If no trip is complete without a taste of local BBQ, head to Wholly Cow BBQ for brisket, pork ribs, and unforgettable mac ‘n’ cheese. For Mother Earth approved comfort foods to amp up your superpowers, enjoy the flavorful kale, brussels sprouts, and premium proteins at Bolay Kitchen, the hummus and other vegetarian or vegan options at Vish Hummus Hollywood, or Middle Eastern fusion vegetarian cuisine with an American BBQ twist at Shabo’s Mediterranean Barbecue.
Get Outside!
With its proximity to Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Hollywood is the perfect place to go for a walk and explore Florida. Beachfront Hollywood North Beach Park has direct access to the Atlantic Ocean for swimming, watersports, or sunning, while scenic West Lake Park has walking trails, biking paths, plus canoe or kayak rentals. With paved walkways and numerous hiking paths, John Williams Park is one of the best places to spot tortoises native to the area, and 1,500-acre Anne Kolb Nature Center offers hiking, biking, and bird watching. You can revel in the water without going to a beach at Castaway Island Water Park, work your legs while sightseeing on a bike tour, or take a guided walking tour of downtown Hollywood.
We look forward to meeting with you in Hollywood, Florida!
